Digital Product Passport (DPP)

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) Client Service enables users to retrieve digital passports from the DPP system, providing valuable insights into a product's lifecycle, traceability, and dynamic data.

What is a Digital Product Passport?

A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital record that encapsulates a product’s journey through its lifecycle, from production to end-of-life. It consolidates information about the product’s origin, materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain interactions, enhancing transparency and traceability.

What is the DPP Client Service?

The DPP Client Service provides a seamless interface for retrieving digital passports from the DPP system, ensuring easy access to comprehensive product data.

Integrating Product, Dynamic, and Traceability Data

The DPP service employs a three-step process to integrate static product data, dynamic updates, and traceability information:

  1. Product Data – Static data that remains unchanged throughout the product’s lifetime, such as name, description, and other fundamental attributes.
  2. Dynamic Data – Variable data that evolves over time, including real-time metrics like location, state of charge, and other operational details.
  3. Traceability Data – Supply chain-related information, such as the materials and components used in the product’s manufacturing process.

Creating a New Digital Product Passport

To generate a new Digital Product Passport, follow these steps:

  1. Product Creation – The Circulor implementation team will create a new product entry in the DPP system. Customers can view the product at DPP Service.
  2. Updating and Maintaining Product Data – Customers can manage and update product data via the DPP service. For digital integration, APIs are available for automated updates. See the Product API documentation.
  3. Generating the Digital Product Passport – A Digital Product Passport is automatically created at designated Digital Capture Points (DCPs) for every recorded product. See the Traceability API documentation.
  4. Updating Dynamic Data – Once a passport is generated, dynamic data can be continuously updated. See the Product Item API documentation.

This streamlined approach ensures full product traceability, supporting sustainability, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making.
